WHITE OAK NFL SPORTS REUNION
JUNE 20-21, 2003

A special weekend charity event was held June 20th and 21st, that honored former White Oak High School Pro Football Players Coy McGee, Bobby Rogers, Dick Fugler, Max McGee, Russell Wayt, Sam Hunt, Mike Barber, and Byron Hunt. The Pro Football Reunion was the idea of Byron Hunt with proceeds from the event going to the Seth Rogers Memorial Retreat Center and the Mary Lawson Estate Water Project.

A Golf Tournament held at the Longview Country Club got the football weekend kicked off, and was followed by a Banquet Dinner at the White Oak Cafeteria. Saturday, a Football Mini-camp was held to round out the weekend events.

At the banquet, a video presentation was viewed showing highlights of each of the football players with excerpts from the 1982 White Oak homecoming that honored Winlon Knowles, Cotton Miles, Emil Hanicak, Andy Griffin, Tommy Atkins, Roy Swicegood, and Mrs. Maye McGinnis. The Pro Football athletes were introduced by former coaches Cotton Miles, Andy Griffin, and James Martin. Mayor Tim Vaughn was the Master of Ceremonies.

Videos are available for purchase of the presentation video and of the weekend events, including the banquet speeches. A commemorative 5x7 combination of the 1967 Sports Illustrated Cover of Max McGee and a collage photo of the eight former pro football players is also available.
